2010 Campaign for the 4th District
This is far short of the money McClintock and his Democratic opponent raised in 2008. However, similar to 2008, the VAST majority of money raised has come from outside the 4th district.

2008 Campaign for the 4th District
In 2008 the Republican contender, Tom McClintock, spent $3,532,695 on his campaign to win the election for the open seat California 4th District. His opponent, Democrat Charles Brown, spent another $2,598,080. McClintock won the election by only 1,800 votes.
Over $6,000,000 was spent between the Republicans and Democrats for a single open seat in the House of Representatives, with the vast majority of the money being raised from outside the district. With only 369,780 people in the district voting, this means almost $20 was spent for every vote in the election.
Here is the question: How does the winner PAY BACK the money raised to win the election?
